Ο Άρης Πλαστήρας έχει υπάρξει μέλος της ερευνητικής ομάδας της Κλινικής Κατώτερου Πεπτικού του King’s College Hospital για 4 έτη καθώς και μέλος της ερευνητικής ομάδας της Πανεπιστημιακής Καρδιολογικής Κλινικής του Ιπποκράτειου Αθηνών για 6 συναπτά έτη.
Έχει συμμετεάσχει στη συγγραφή ιατρικών συγγραμμάτων (‘OPIE - DRUGS FOR THE HEART’ 6th edition, ‘Adolescence- Age changes and potential" 1st edition’, ‘Experimental Embryology’ 1st edition).
